As far as progress on the house is concerned, Charlie has had the drain pipes and water pipes placed and run in the downstairs bathroom---the completion of this bathroom is required for us to move in so he is hurrying! The wood we purchased from a salvage yard was planed and now fits perfectly next to existing flooring in the bathroom. Charlie should be able to get the toilet and sink in this week---the shower floor and walls have been placed already. We can't wait to get in the house permanently!
We celebrated Father's Day at Cleydael--our first real event there. All the kids were there except for our Paramedic daughter---she was running with the rescue squad. The kids gave Charlie yard toys such as croquet, ladder ball, and horse shoes. The best present by far was the announcement from Chris and Melissa that they are expecting a baby sometime between Thanksgiving and Dec. 2! The entire family is too excited for words to describe! They are having a girl and she will be the first grandchild. In the middle of our Father's Day celebration, a tour bus rolled in! Charlie met them at the end of the driveway and told them a little about the house and our purchase of it.
On the 21st we enjoyed a truly wonderful picnic with the King George Historical Society. They asked several months ago if they could hold their annual picnic on the grounds and of course we said "yes"! They invited the Chamber of Commerce to join them and even though the temperature reached 99 degrees that day, we had a great turnout, most of the picnicers toured the house, and a good time was had by all. We hope they hold their annual picnic there every year!
The plan as this weekend begins is for Charlie to finish the downstairs bathroom so we can move in. The rest of us will focus our energy on packing and moving everything other than the bare essentials out of our old house and into Cleydael---It's time!!!!!
